In 2001, alongside the base model, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Aprilia SL 1000 Falco R, a race-ready version that featured several differences, improving its specifications.
Compared to the standard model, the SL 1000 Falco R version featured an aerodynamic fairing with a small windscreen, a more aggressive graphic scheme, race-derived suspension and braking systems, and a revised engine mapping for improved performance.
The bike packed standard features, such as a large headlight unit, a small windscreen, a single seat with a passenger seat cover, a dual exhaust system with a muffler mounted on each side, a side stand, and five-spoke alloy wheels.
For power, the 2001 Aprilia SL 1000 Falco R had installed a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine underneath its fuel tank, delivering an output power of 118 hp at 9,250 rpm and 95 Nm (70 lb-ft) torque at 7,000 rpm.
The bike's engine was married to a six-speed manual transmission that took power from the engine and sent it to the rear wheel via a final chain drive, pushing the motorcycle to a top speed of 250 kph (156 mph).
As for the braking power, the bike relied on two 320 mm brake discs assisted by four-piston calipers on the front and a 220 mm brake disc tied to a dual-piston caliper on the rear.
