Adler is a German brand that was founded in 1880 by Herr Heinrich Kleyer in Frankfurt a.M. It started off with bicycle and tricycle production, and later moved on to office machines, automobiles, trucks and motorcycles, until the company filed for bankruptcy in 1957.
In 1944, as a result of the bombings that targeted the whole city, the Adler factory was utterly destroyed, which left way for a more modern and well-equipped facility to take its place. This meant a new era for the brand, which started focusing primarily on small and accessible motorcycles, suitable for day-to-day use.
Their motorcycles were well-known, and envied, at the time, for their reliability, and were the object of comparison for most of the motorcycle producers at the time.
