In 2005, the Italian motorcycle maker released the Aprilia RSV 1000 R, a sports motorcycle that replaced the Aprilia RSV Mille produced between 1998 and 2003. It continued production until 2010, when it was replaced by the Aprilia RSV4.
The 2005 model was in its second year of production. It came with the same package as the previous model, featuring the same technical, visual, and performance specifications, except for several minor modifications.
The 2005 RSV 1000 R received several changes, including a new fuel injection mapping, front radial calipers, a photo-engraved front fender, white lens indicators and taillight, a new optional rear seat cover, and new seat upholstery.
Suspension-wise, the bike packed a 43 mm upside-down Ohlins compression, rebound, and preload-adjustable fork with 120 mm wheel travel on the front and an adjustable Ohlins monoshock on the rear with 133 mm wheel travel.
The braking system was retained from previous models, including two 320 mm brake discs mounted on the front wheel coupled to four-piston calipers and a 220 mm brake disc married to a dual-piston caliper on the rear wheel.
The 2005 Aprilia RSM 1000 R had its heartbeat set by a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine with a fuel injection system feeding the pistons, boasting 143 hp at 9,500 rpm and 107 Nm (79 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
