The German engineers from BMW have designed a more fuel-efficient and tame version of their flagship R 1150 R naked, in the embodiment of the 2000 MY R 850 R. This machine sports a smaller, air/oil-cooled, four-stroke, 848cc, boxer twin engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and can reach a maximum power output of 73 horsepower and 77 Nm of torque.
In all other departments, it has the same fittings as it's larger sibling, such as the BMW Motorrad Telelever front suspension coupled to a Paralever rear unit, dual front disc brakes and a single disc in the rear, die-cast aluminium wheels, a spacious, 21-liter (5.5-gallon) fuel tank, analogue instrumentation dials, a round headlight, a dual seat and pillion grab rails.
