BMW released the 2012 BMW S 1000 RR, which came with a consistent number of updates. One of the upgrades was a new face of the tachometer, a new mapping for each of the four riding modes, and a lighter throttle tube with a shorter pull to correct the throttle response issues reported by the customers. Other upgrades include the exhaust, the chassis was updated, with the front suspension lifted by 4 mm (0.2 inches), the rear dropped by 5 mm (0.2 inches), and the wheelbase reduced by nearly 10 mm (0.4 inches).
Among other mechanical updates, the visual improvements consist of a slimmer-looking tail section, grilles on the side of the tank, a new RR logo, and reshaped side panel with plastic winglets that are supposed to improve aerodynamics at higher speeds.
Also was available in new paint schemes such as Racing Red with Alpine white, Bluefire, Sapphire Black metallic, or the classic BMW Motorrad Motorsport colors.
In the brake horsepower department, the 2012 BMW S 1000 RR has its heartbeat set by the 999cc four-stroke liquid-cooled engine used on the previous models, with a power of 193 hp at 13,000 rpm and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque at 9,750 rpm.
