Alongside the standard 2012 Multistrada 1200 model, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Ducati Multistrada 1200S model, a half-naked machine with a redesigned seat for more rider room and ABS as standard.
Compared to the standard model, the 1200S version featured an improved suspension system that provided more ground clearance and better handling capabilities, using a fully adjustable Ohlins front fork and rear shock.
The front end was handled by a 48 mm fully adjustable USD Ohlins fork with electronic compression, rebound adjustment, and 170 mm wheel travel. The rear end was operated by a fully adjustable electronic Ohlins shock absorber with 170 mm wheel travel.
For appearance, the bike was fitted with standard features, such as a front fairing with a dual headlight system and a tall windscreen, a two-piece dual seat, 10-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, and a side stand.
The 2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200S had its soul brought to life by a 1,198cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine with a fuel injection system in charge, delivering an output power of 150 hp at 9,250 rpm and 119 Nm (88 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
In addition, the bike featured a Bosch-Brembo ABS braking system, four riding modes, Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro, a ride-by-wire system, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) system, and carbon fiber air intakes, cam belt covers, rear hugger, and lateral air extractors.
