In 2014, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak, a special edition motorcycle celebrating the iconic victory the House of Borgo Panigale achieved at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race in Colorado, USA.
The bike was fitted with several carbon fiber elements, such as a race-derived low windscreen, front air intakes, lateral air outtakes, a front mudguard, a rear hugger, and cam belt covers.
To be differentiated from the base model, the Pikes Peak special edition machine was fitted with Panigale-style three-spoke Marchesini wheels and a race-derived livery with a MotoGP-style white racing stripe. Also, the bike featured a carbon fiber Termignoni silencer at the rear.
In the aesthetic department, the bike was fitted with standard features, such as a front fairing with a dual headlight layout and a low windscreen, a two-piece dual seat, a single-sided swingarm, and lightweight alloy wheels.
As for power, the 2014 Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak had its heartbeat set by a 1,198cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system in charge, delivering 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
As for the braking power, the wheels were fitted with two 320 mm semi-floating discs and four-piston Brembo calipers on the front and a 265 mm disc with a two-piston floating caliper on the rear, providing excellent stopping power.
