In 2011, to celebrate Greg Tracy-s famous victory at the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race in Colorado, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak Special Edition.
The special edition machine was delivered in a Ducati Corse-style replica paint scheme along with passenger footpeg hangers, a black anodized engine guard, and red pinstripes on the edge of the rims.
In addition to its original equipment like the silencer and windscreen, the bike featured an EU-approved Ducati Performance carbon fiber silencer made by Termignoni, a race-derived carbon fiber low screen, a carbon fiber mudguard, and a custom-made seat with red stitching.
In the performance department, the 2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak Special Edition had its heartbeat set by a 1,198cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine with a fuel injection system in charge, delivering 150 hp with a peak at 9.250 rpm and 119 Nm (88 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
In front of the engine was a 50 mm fully adjustable upside-down Marzocchi telescopic fork handling the front suspension, while the rear was operated by a fully adjustable Sachs shock absorber with progressive linkage, delivering excellent handling capabilities.
As for the stopping power, the bike packed two 320 mm discs with four-piston Brembo calipers on the front and a 245 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear wheel, offering reliable braking performance.
