In 2005, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati Multistrada 620 Dark, a naked machine similar to the standard models that came at a lower price, being the cheapest Multistrada model.
Compared to the larger 1000DS version, the 620 model has numerous identical parts, like the side panels, frame, and fuel tank. Although the fuel tank had the same size, it had a capacity of only 15 liters (3.9 gallons).
The frame was also as big as the one used on the Multistrada 1000DS but modified at the rear, where the single-sided swingarm was replaced by a double-sided unit. The front end was handled by a Marzocchi fork, and the rear was operated by a Sachs shock absorber.
Besides the rear swingarm, the bike was identical to the 1000DS model, packing the same half-fairing, a medium-sized windscreen, a two-piece dual seat, a dual exhaust system mounted under the seat, and a blacked-out, more aggressive appearance.
In the performance department, the 2005 Ducati Multistrada 620 Dark had its muscles from a 618cc four-stroke air-cooled V-twin engine with a fuel injection system in charge, boasting 61 hp at 8,750 rpm and 54 Nm (40 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.
Also, for braking performance, the bike packed a single 330 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the front wheel and a 245 mm disc with a two-piston caliper on the rear wheel.
