　　The 1988 MY Gilera Saturno 500 is a middle-class, half-faired machine, suitable for a wide category of riders. It has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 492cc, single cylinder powerplant that was paired to a five-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, and can reach a maximum power output of 44 horsepower and 46 Nm of torque.

　　Also, it comes with features such as a steel, trellis frame, die-cast aluminium wheels, a single seat with lumbar support for the rider, a half-fairing with a windscreen, front and rear disc brakes, a Marzocchi suspension package composed of a 40mm telescopic fork coupled to a an adjustable monoshock in the rear, an analogue instrument cluster and a side-mounted, high exhaust system.
