In 2012, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer launched the first model of the KTM 200 DUKE as a standard, naked machine powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It packed a cable-operated clutch and featured an under-belly exhaust system.
The 200 DUKE was manufactured in India at the Bajaj Autos Chakan Plant and assembled in Columbia by the Auteco Company in Argentina by the Simpa S.A. Since 2014, the machine has been assembled by KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Being available only for Asian, European, and South American markets, the 200 DUKE was released in 2020 for the North American market, featuring an updated style and various components borrowed from the DUKE 390 to resemble other DUKE machines.
For 2023, the manufacturer released a new street range of motorcycles that introduced new graphics and color changes, including the KTM 200 DUKE, KTM 390 DUKE, and KTM RC 390 machines. The KTM 200 DUKE packed a new livery that enhanced its aggressive styling.
The 2023 KTM 200 DUKE was delivered with a lightweight 199cc four-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, with an electronic fuel injection system on board, boasting 26 hp with a maximum peak at 10,000 rpm and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) torque at 6,800 rpm.
From the manufacturing plant, the 2023 KTM 200 DUKE rolled on 10-spoke lightweight wheels, displaying many modern components, including a stylish front fender, engine and exhaust guards, a two-piece dual seat, a side stand, and a black-finished frame.
The bike was fitted with a newly designed headlight for a menacing look and bodywork with sharp lines offering an excellent street presence. The 2023 KTM 200 DUKE was for sale with a base price of $4,199.
