　　After a full redesign last year, the 2020 Aston Martin Vantage gains some notable additions. Joining the two-seat coupe is a new convertible (Roadster) and a limited-edition Vantage AMR variant. The limited-production Vantage AMR represents a lightweight and more performance-oriented alternative. Most notably, the AMR comes with a seven-speed manual transmission. While dual-clutch automatic transmissions are undoubtedly superior from a performance standpoint, it's nice to see Aston Martin giving you the choice.

　　Among premium luxury sport coupes, the Aston Martin Vantage has the perceived exclusivity to make it feel more special than a competing Porsche 911. In terms of performance, it will certainly delight most drivers, though it won't surpass most of its rivals on a racetrack. The Vantage also comes up a little short when it comes to tech features and interior refinement for the class. Despite these drawbacks, the 2020 Aston Martin Vantage is a very desirable vehicle.

　　

Which Vantage does zzdcar recommend?

The standard 2020 Aston Martin Vantage gets our recommendation. To that, we'd consider adding the Tech Collection package. We're intrigued by the Vantage AMR and its manual transmission, but its limited availability, unfavorable reviews of its shifter, and reduction in torque have us sticking with the base model. It looks likely that the manual transmission will be an option for 2021 Vantage models too.
