Of course it was based on the Audi’s sporty version of the A8, the S8. But the “Plus” was not a minor plus actually.
The S8 plus was the Audi’s fastest series production at the time.
The S8 plus came with a powerful 4.0-liter V8 TFSI engine that added 85 extra hp compared to the S8. The torque produced by the V8 engine was at 705 Nm. And could go up to 750 Nm.
Rocketing the S8 plus to 100 kph would be done in a blink of an eye, more exactly, 3.8 seconds. The luxury sports sedan was electronically limited to 250 kph, however, with the Dynamic Package, the S8 plus could go up to 305 kph.
Along with the new engine, the S8 plus had a tweaked suspension, with improved steering and an enhanced braking system.
The exterior had suffered a few changes, featuring carbon fiber accents from front to rear, a carbon rear lip, a black diffuser and a double pipe exhaust. By the way, the sound produced by the exhaust was music to the ear.
However, the great sound would not have been the most comfortable for a long journey, thus, the S8 Plus was equipped with an active noise cancelation system that would reduce the noise levels inside.
The S8 plus came with the short wheelbase configuration only, an aluminum-built chassis and was an overall lightweight construction weighing only 2065 kg.
The interior of the S8 plus was impeccably crafted, with nice red stitchings contrasting with the soft black leather.
An audi analogue clock was placed in the center dashboard.
The S8 Plus successfully combined great luxury with true sports’ car capabilities, having a starting price of around $145,000.
