　　What is the Envision?

　　The world of automobiles is wonderfully diverse, ranging from the exceptional (Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz GLS) to the wholly disappointing (we have hopes that the Infiniti Q50 and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will once again achieve adequacy). And then there are those that are solidly, even aggressively, middle of the road. The Buick Envision is one of these. It represents the perfect center of SUV-dom. Buick is itself caught in the middle between mainstream and luxury automakers, and the Envision is its completely acceptable compact SUV. The Envision does everything pretty well while also not excelling in any particular area. It is absolutely, totally fine.

　　Recently spotted camouflaged Envisions suggest that a refresh is on the way for 2024. The test mules are hidden beneath heavy camo, so there's not even a hint of what updates are in store for the revamped Envision. While the exterior could use a few sharper edges here and there to make it stand out from the crowd, the Envision's cabin represents the greatest opportunity for improvement. While the interior is nice enough compared against mainstream rivals, the Buick's elevated price tag puts it uncomfortably close to luxury alternatives, and its plastics don't hold muster. The premium sound option could also use an upgrade, but other drawbacks — including a smallish cargo hold and just-average interior space — that can't be ironed out in a refresh are likely to remain.
