The 2024 Malibu, the last Chevy sedan still standing, continues without major changes. We expected Chevrolet to discontinue this midsize car, but it appears the Malibu will live on for 2024. Rumors also suggest a redesigned version is coming for 2025. Apparently, Chevy has decided it might need to sell a car other than the Corvette after all.

Until a new 10th-generation Malibu becomes a reality, the aging ninth-gen model soldiers on, destined mainly for rental car and government fleet duties. It comes in a handful of trim levels, each equipped with a modestly powered turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Unlike most of the Malibu's rivals, this Chevy doesn't offer all-wheel drive or a hybrid powertrain option. It does have a sense of style, though, and the interior is roomy with a simple control layout.
Still, the 2024 Chevrolet Malibu fares poorly against most of its rivals. For example, the Honda Accord is bigger and more efficient, while the Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5 offer distinctive styling and superior tech. The Nissan Altima is available with a more powerful engine, while the Subaru Legacy provides standard all-wheel drive. Toyota is also preparing an all-new Camry, which will no doubt be quite popular. Overall, we're glad to see Chevy sticking it out with the Malibu, but the reality is that the competition is simply better.
Which Malibu does zzdcar recommend?
We recommend the 2LT trim level because it's well equipped in comparison to similarly priced rivals, and it's exclusively available with all of the Malibu's available driver assistance features. Plus, it comes with leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a premium sound system and more.
