Overview
The 2025 Chevrolet Trax is the carmaker's smallest and most affordable SUV, slotting under the larger and more expensive Trailblazer and Equinox. While the first-generation Trax that ran from 2015 to 2022 was fairly forgettable, the 2024 redesign represents a significant improvement. As the overhauled Trax enters its second year of production, we don't expect any big changes, which should keep it on firm footing as one of the value leaders in a very competitive class.
zzdcar spotlight: Spacious and safe
Given the Trax's small footprint, it may surprise you how much space it provides on the inside. It can comfortably accommodate average-size adults in the front or rear seats, and it doesn't end there. The cargo area can hold up to 25.6 cubic feet, which is positively huge for a subcompact SUV. There's also plenty of assurance as you hit the road with passengers and cargo since the Trax comes standard with a lot of the typical modern driver assist features. We'd consider adding the Driver Confidence package to tack on blind-spot warning and adaptive cruise control too.
Competitors to consider
Oddly enough, one of the Trax's most direct challengers comes from within Chevrolet itself. The Trailblazer is only marginally more expensive and larger on the outside, but it holds an advantage with available all-wheel drive (which the Trax does not offer) and more powerful engines. We also suggest checking out the well-rounded Volkswagen Taos as well as the sleek and sporty Mazda CX-30.
zzdcar says
While the Chevrolet Trax may not be the most exciting SUV to drive, it makes up for it where it counts most: price and practicality. It's one of the more affordable vehicles around and comes with an impressive amount of space and features.
