The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was unveiled at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. It was designed as an 8-seat crossover MPV, but its look was closer to an SUV.
The Traverse was planned as a vehicle to be sold in the North American continent and in Russia, Middle East, and the South American market as well. For the South Korean market was already introduced and received the nickname “Super SUV” and it was the largest crossover in the region.
The outside look was closer to the Tahoe. The grille was bigger and the headlights were smaller than before, but with a truck-like design. It featured LED signature lighting and available D-Optic LED headlamps. To stand apart from the Tahoe, the Traverse was lower, but with a bigger wheelbase. In the back, the Traverse featured a bowtie logo lamp, which illuminated the ground to show where drivers need to place a foot to activate the power-liftgate.
Inside the vehicle, the passengers had access to USB charging ports in all three seating rows to keep them comfortable and connected. The 2018 Traverse featured Chevrolet's latest connectivity technologies that included available 7- and 8” MyLink infotainment systems designed to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an available OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
Unusual for a vehicle of that size, the Traverse was available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive only. The 3.6-liter V6 was mated to the same gearbox, but it was available with all-wheel-drive.
