2024 Genesis G90 Review

Returning after a full redesign in 2023, the G90 sees almost no changes for this model year. It remains the flagship in the Genesis lineup. And it is a massive, comfortable thing. Its 125-inch wheelbase is about an inch shorter than the BMW 7 Series, though both are considerably shorter than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Standard all-wheel drive is a highlight as is an interior that rivals the class leaders in fit, finish and flourish. However, the G90 is missing the rear-seat entertainment experience offered by its main competitors.

zzdcar spotlight: More expensive, just like everything else
That the G90 doesn't offer a clear value advantage in the luxury sedan class might be the biggest news surrounding Genesis' four-door flagship. After all, the Hyundai/Kia value juggernaut is one with a long history of offering more for less. When the current generation G90 was introduced for 2023, the big sedan underwent a massive price hike. Indeed, $90,000 for a sedan from a barely known luxury brand may seem absurd to many. With the G90 you still get much — but not all — of the same tech that's available on costlier German sedans. There are no rear seat screens offered in the Genesis, as is common in the class. And the Genesis is now perilously close to the 7 Series in outlay — flanking the base 740i's price with its two trims. But it starts about $28,000 less than the base S-Class. The bottom line, as is often the case in contests of luxury: Are you willing to pay significantly more for an established brand name?
Competitors to consider
There are only a handful of contenders in the G90's market space — and some are closer in price and spec than others. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class remains the class alpha. But BMW's 7 Series and Audi's A8 are both priced closer to the G90 and offer differences in character and features that may help you make your choice. Lexus' LS costs slightly less and rounds out the segment with a driving experience all its own.
Which G90 does zzdcar recommend?
We think the best value in the G90 line is the standard G90 3.5T AWD. Sure, you'll give up some power compared to the electric supercharged version, but that model still doesn't get you German luxury sedan levels of output. Might as well save the money, enjoy the already solid value, and appreciate the potentially better ride quality from smaller 20-inch wheels.
Genesis G90 models
The 2024 Genesis G90 is a large luxury sedan offered in two trim levels: G90 3.5T AWD and G90 3.5T E-Supercharger AWD. Both are powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The V6 makes 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque in base trim. The E-Supercharger trim, like its name implies, adds an electric supercharger for a boost to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft.G90
