What is the Acadia?
The GMC Acadia is a three-row midsize SUV that is currently in its second generation. Although the Acadia offers respectable options and various trims to choose from, we feel it is time it gets a comprehensive update, and the 2024 model might be it. Spy shots have shown what seems to be a camouflaged redesigned Acadia being tested in public.
The anticipated third-generation GMC Acadia seems to be larger in size. The front fascia appears to be home to reshaped headlights and an updated grille. At the rear, taillights will most likely be restructured along with exhaust tips that jut out from beneath a refined bumper. There's no word on powertrain upgrades yet. Currently, the Acadia can be had with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the SLE and SLT trim levels and a stronger 3.6-liter V6 in the AT4 and Denali. We wouldn't be surprised if the Acadia adopts the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder used in the new-for-2023 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, which produces more power than the current 2.0-liter motor.
There haven't been any official announcements on when the next-generation Acadia will arrive, but everything seems to indicate that it will be for 2024. Specs are also under wraps, though we hope to see improvements that will bring the Acadia closer in line with its rivals, which are ahead when it comes to overall quality. These include the Hyundai Palisade, the Kia Telluride, the Honda Pilot, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the Volkswagen Atlas.
