　　Overview

　　If you want a small SUV but sometimes need to transport six or more people, the Kia Sorento should be on your short list. The Sorento is one of only a handful of small SUVs on the market that offers third-row seating. Like most other Kias, the Sorento comes with an impressive complement of standard features, including wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, lane keeping assistance and many USB charging ports. You also have the option for a powerful turbocharged engine that's mated to a snappy dual-clutch automatic transmission. It's more powerful than an SUV like this needs to be, but we certainly don't mind having the extra grunt.

The 2025 Kia Sorento is almost guaranteed to stay exactly the same as the 2024 model, and that's a good thing. Why? Because in 2024 the model saw a major refresh. Its looks were brought far more in line with the extremely popular Kia Telluride, the interior got a snazzy new single-pane infotainment display/instrument cluster combo that features two 12.3-inch displays, and there's a new X-Pro trim that makes it an even more competent camping companion. 

　　

Competitors to consider

The Kia Sorento currently sits at the top of its class in our rankings, and that makes recommending competitors you might want to take a look at a little tricky. However, if you don't mind spending a little extra coin, the Kia Telluride gets a big thumbs-up from us. It offers more space, more capability, and an interior so well made you'd swear it's from Mercedes-Benz. If you're looking for something similarly sized to the Sorento, you might want to take a look at the new-for-2024 Chevrolet Traverse. It recently received a from-the-ground-up redo, and it looks as rugged, capable and value-laden as the Sorento.
