In production for over a decade, the Lamborghini Aventador has reached the end of its long and winding road. To celebrate the model's success, the 2022 Aventador comes only in new LP 780-4 Ultimae specification, its sonorous 6.5-liter V12 engine now equipped with titanium intake valves to make the Ultimae the most powerful example of the supercar ever made.

Avg. Midsize Car
Yes, that does sound hyperbolic, given the mere 10-horsepower increase over last year's Aventador SVJ (Super Veloce Jota). But among supercar owners, bragging rights count, and buyers who scoop up examples of the 2022 Aventador from the final run of 350 coupes and 250 convertibles will be able to tell anyone interested enough to listen that their limited-edition car has the most powerful naturally aspirated standard-production V12 in Lamborghini history. That's a claim that will stand the test of time too. The Aventador's replacement will still have a V12, but it will add plug-in hybrid electrification.
In addition to supplying 769 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque, the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae includes all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, carbon-ceramic brakes, and an active suspension that can lift the car's nose to help clear speed bumps, driveway aprons and parking curbs. Multiple driving modes are available, including Ego, which lets the driver mix-and-match settings to a personal preference. Acceleration to 60 mph takes about 2.8 seconds, and the top speed is 220 mph.
While the Ultimae does without the SVJ's big rear wing, it does have a few styling cues that differentiate it from other Aventadors. The front end gets red aero accents, and the Alcantara-dressed interior features a numbered production plaque on the front pillar near the driver's door. There's also an arrow-shaped motif that starts on the comfort-oriented seats (taken from the Aventador S) and is optionally available to continue on the dashboard. Standard carbon-fiber trim inside and out gives the Ultimae an even racier look.
All in all, the LP 780-4 is a fitting tribute to a company that built its reputation on non-turbocharged 12-cylinder engines. The Aventador's replacement has a lot to live up to.
