What is the Urus?
When the Lamborghini Urus was introduced, we all knew it was going to be an SUV like no other. We never expected it to be just a simple family hauler. And, well, it isn't. Since its inception for the 2019 model year, the Urus has been a deviant super SUV that will catapult you from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and has emerged as Lamborghini's top-selling vehicle. For 2023, the brand rolled out exterior styling updates on the Urus and introduced the Lamborghini Urus as a more exclusive version that amps up performance even more.
The current Urus uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 packing 641 horsepower. The engine's output ramps up to 657 hp for both the Urus S and the Performante models. There is word that electrification might make its way into the Urus powertrain, but we haven't heard anything official about the 2024 model. Spy shots have shown a plug-in hybrid version, which would definitely be a welcome addition since we suspect that it would only make this exotic even faster.
The Urus is a one-of-kind SUV. Currently, the Lamborghini Urus is the only credible competitor that also utilizes a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, but with almost 700 hp, it produces even more power than the Lambo. The upcoming Lamborghini Urus can potentially stack up well against the Urus as it promises to be faster and lighter, but it will reportedly cost almost twice as much as the standard Urus.

There's no denying that the Lamborghini Urus is an absolutely outrageous machine. And, sure, it is a very expensive SUV, but the Urus is more like a supercar donning an SUV costume. Check back here for updates on what's in store for 2024.
