The Lincoln brand had reinvented itself and started to close the gap into the German premium car manufacturers, and the 2019 Corsair was a good example of a compact premium SUV.
The 2019 Lincoln Corsair was based on the Ford Escape/Kuga platform, but apart from some technical details, it had nothing in common with it. The look and the features offered by Lincoln were modern and premium.
The headlights had a beautiful design, well integrated into the overall shape of the car. It wasn't the same old Lincoln style seen on the Lincoln MKC which was replaced by Corsair. The whole new lineup resembles names from the aviation industry. After names such as Navigator or Aviator, the Corsair resembled the Vaught F4U Corsair fighter plane from WWII and the Korean War. The badge "Corsair" was installed on the side of the compact Lincoln SUV. In the rear, when lit, the taillights are forming an LED line that resembled a wing.
Inside the cabin, the Corsair was luxurious and premium at its best. It didn't have analog gauges. The instrument cluster was a TFT display and the infotainment unit was a touch-screen placed on top of the center console. Aluminum trim and leather were the main interior elements for the Corsair.
For the technical side, there were three options: two with gasoline and one hybrid with gasoline and electric motor. The first two were mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission while the latter featured a CVT.
