Ram bases the boxy 2022 ProMaster full-size van on a European design, so it packs as much interior volume in as small a footprint as possible. This makes the Ram ProMaster easier to maneuver in close quarters, yet it can still haul up to 4,680 pounds of payload, tow up to 6,910 pounds of trailer, or carry up to 463 cubic feet of cargo, depending on the configuration.

What gives the ProMaster Cargo Van this flexibility? It comes in three wheelbase lengths ranging from 118 inches to 159 inches, paired with a low-roof or a high-roof design. The longest models offer an extended body style with a 13-foot-long cargo area. In addition, the ProMaster is unlike its rivals in that it uses a front-wheel-drive powertrain, allowing for a low load floor that is just 21 inches above the ground. That's a best-in-class number and makes it easier to load and unload a ProMaster.
Two seats for the driver and front passenger are standard in the ProMaster Cargo Van. However, this year a new Crew Van style debuts with a three-passenger second-row bench seat and a partition to separate the people from the cargo. Additionally, the 2022 ProMaster boasts a next-generation infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (both with wireless connectivity), Amazon Alexa integration, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot. This cargo hauler also gets an impressive slate of standard and available driver assistance technologies.
What the Ram ProMaster lacks in comparison to its rivals is an optional all-wheel-drive system, so if you live in a climate where slippery roads and snowstorms are common, you may want to consider the Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The Ford and Mercedes are also a little more refined to drive. Even so, the Ram ProMaster is a capable choice in the full-size work van segment.
Which Promaster Cargo Van does zzdcar recommend?
Ram doesn't offer the ProMaster Cargo Van in traditional trim levels. Instead, you select from the 1500, 2500 and 3500 models that correspond to payload ratings. Then you choose a wheelbase length and a roof height that will best serve your needs and add options to tailor the van to your requirements.
