For many small businesses, a full-size commercial van is overkill. Smaller car-based vans like the 2022 Ram ProMaster City offer a right-sized option capable of hauling their goods at potentially lower operating costs. As an added bonus, just as its name implies, the ProMaster City is well suited for navigating crowded urban landscapes.

Avg. Midsize Minivan
The ProMaster City's small size grants it relatively good fuel economy yet still offers ample space for cargo. Ram offers it as either a cargo van or a five-passenger wagon with a rear bench seat. You won't find much in the way of creature comforts, and that's because the ProMaster City is more business than pleasure.
Though it's first and foremost designed for work, the ProMaster City can be made more hospitable through various packages and options, including a Bluetooth audio system, heated front seats, cruise control and more. Still, its amenities will be spartan compared to something not intended for the commercial market.
The Ram ProMaster City competes with other small commercial vans, including the Ford Transit Connect and Mercedes-Benz Metris. The Nissan NV200 was another small van in the class, but that model was discontinued in 2021.
Which Promaster City does zzdcar recommend?
Ram eliminated the SLT trim level for 2022, so you only have the Base versions of the cargo van and wagon to choose between now. Thankfully, a rearview camera and parking sensors now come standard, but we also recommend opting for the heated seats and power mirror package, especially if you're getting the windowless cargo van.
