2024 Tesla Model Y First Impressions

　　What is the Model Y?

　　The Model Y is Tesla's compact crossover SUV. It was one of the first fully electric compact crossovers to hit the market, and it is essentially the standard by which all other entrants in the segment are judged, and for good reason. It's spacious and relatively comfortable, it comes with plenty of range, and it's packed with a ton of features (some useful and some bordering on gimmickry) that Tesla owners love.

　　We don't expect much to change for the Model Y for 2024. We expect it to be offered in at least its Long Range and Performance trim levels. Thanks to Tesla's recent ramp-up in production, we could see the return of a single-motor rear-wheel-drive Model Y at a lower price. However, Tesla has always struggled to both meet consumer demand and deliver more than one or two variants on each of its models, so we aren't holding our breath. Even so, the Model Y remains a top option in our rankings, though new rivals including the Ioniq 5 and BMW iX are heightening the competition.
