Overview
The 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is a small crossover SUV and one of the most popular vehicles on the road today. Despite being among the oldest vehicles in its class, the current RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid outsell everything in Toyota's lineup as well as basically anything that's not a full-size pickup truck. While we like the RAV4 Hybrid for its stellar fuel economy, sizable cargo area and smooth ride, things like in-car tech and Toyota's driver aids feel behind the times when stacked up against rivals. We suspect Toyota knows this, too, and based on Toyota's traditional timeline for redesigns, we wouldn't be surprised to see a completely overhauled RAV4 Hybrid for 2025.
zzdcar spotlight: A redesign for 2025?
The fifth-generation RAV4 has been on sale since 2019, an eon in the automotive space. The RAV4 Hybrid has a lot of strong points (especially when it comes to things like fuel efficiency), but it's in dire need of an update when you look at it compared to rivals. There's no official information on a redesign for 2025, but if it does materialize, we'd expect the RAV4 Hybrid to get all-new interior and exterior styling, with design cues echoing other new or redesigned Toyotas like the Grand Highlander or Tacoma pickup. The tech should get a big update, too, in the form of Toyota's latest infotainment system, again borrowed from newer Toyota models like the Prius or bZ4X.
Competitors to consider
The RAV4 Hybrid has plenty of tough competition. Some top rivals include the Kia Sportage Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid and Ford Escape Hybrid. That bunch are all roughly the same size and start around the same price as the RAV4 Hybrid. If you need a little more space than what the RAV4 offers, Toyota offers two other hybrid SUVs that we think are pretty solid, the Toyota Venza and three-row Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
zzdcar says
The fifth-generation RAV4 has been on sale since 2019, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a redesigned RAV4 Hybrid soon, possibly for the 2025 model year. When it does arrive, look for new styling, new tech and an even more efficient hybrid powertrain.
