1969 Jeepster Commando for $15,000!
1969 Jeepster Commando for $15,000!-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:18

For the next time someone asks you "boxers or briefs?", today's arms you with the answer- Hey, I go commando!

The 1948 Willys Overland Jeepster was intended to extend the Jeep product into a more urban and urbane market. Unsuccessful in this effort, the Jeepster was discontinued in 1950.

Sixteen years later, the 4-place Jeepster was revived as the C-101 Commando. It still used the Hurricane F-head 4 cylinder, but the 160bhp 225 cid Dauntless V6 (sourced from Buick) was available as an option.

This has the V6 upgrade, which is backed up by the T14 (or maybe T86?) three speed stick. You may not win the gold with this Jeep, but the brown-striped bronze paint is shiny enough to take a medal, none the less. And if isn't freeing enough, this Jeep will also let you rock the Rubicon topless!

Like all real Jeeps, this Jeepster is a trail-rated 4 wheel drive. That means that you, and three of your friends would be able to traverse pretty much anything from the Chisholm Trail to the drive thru at Churches.

Still, there's a lot of options for your $19,000. For that kind of scratch, you could buy a decent year old Wrangler, or . . .well, pretty much anything in this economy. We can confirm that it has aged more gracefully than the fifteen-year younger Schwarzenegger vehicle of the same name, and will likely be a better long-term investment than the director's cut of that classic actioner.

So, does that price make you want to shed your inhibitions and go Commando? Or, does the thought of spending fifteen grand give you a wedgie?

You decide!

At $20,000, Could This Innocuous 2008 Ford E150 Be A Sleeper You Could Sleep In?
On the outside, today’s E150 is the epitome of the creeper van. The van’s custom camper interior, however, is as inviting as can be. Let’s see if the price means that it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Years ago—decades really—an executive at Porsche was asked why the company...

It’s the year 2549 and you’ve been invited to a party on Jupiter. What are you going to show up with? Why, this , of course, all the way from the ancient year of 1988. Earth imploded in 2248, but there was enough time to salvage key pieces of...

At $46,995, Could This 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Still Have Nine Lives Left?
Today’s Challenger is one of the cars that started the modern hella-horsepower wars. Let’s see if this one’s depreciated price means it’s now well worth going into battle. Volvo’s venerable 200-series has a well-earned reputation for stoutness that is easily matched by its innocuous nature. Yesterday’s provided prima facie...

At $9,000, Could This 2006 Acura RSX Type-S Be Your Type Of Deal?
Front-wheel drive sports coupes were once rife on our nation’s highways and byways, but their popularity has been usurped by crossovers. Today’s Acura RSX represents one of the breed’s best, but will its price have you wishing it had stayed forgotten? Hey boys and girls, what time is it?...

At $15,500, Does This 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX Work For You At All?
Rally-bred homologations may be a rare breed, but at least Subaru’s kept the flame alive. Today’s WRX may not be as raw and exciting as its OG predecessors, but that doesn’t mean its price shouldn’t offer anything other than smooth sailing. There was a lot to like about yesterday’s...
