Another Massive Fireball Was Just Caught On Russian Dashcam
Another Massive Fireball Was Just Caught On Russian Dashcam-April 2024

If you were driving along at saw what looked to be, at the very least, a small atomic explosion in the night sky, you might pull over. At the very least, to process what just happened. Not in Russia, where the second meteor in a year appears to have exploded over western Siberia.

This enormous fireball happened in Sverdlovsk Oblast, which is just a from , where a meteor exploded and injured over 100 people last year.

One of the big advantages of living in a country where everyone seems to have a camera pointing out

It looks to simply be another meteor, however, instead of secret weapons testing, however, according to Redditor :

Astronomer here! Probably too late for the party on this one, but this just looks like a particularly bright fireball meteor. These are actually not as rare as you would think- , for example.

Specifically, if I had to bet, today is the peak of the Leonid meteor shower. The Leonids are a strange beast of a shower whereby some years you get storms that produce due to particularly dense debris, some years are years were nothing happens out of the ordinary. This was supposed to be one of the ordinary years (~10/hour from that- you get one meteor a minute just from normal debris) but that doesn't mean you can have larger chunks as part of that 10/hour.

So get out there and watch those meteor showers, kids. You might end up with crazy video that you can use to convince your friends of that time you totally escaped the coming apocalypse.
