General Motors reports they've already had "nearly 30,000 orders" from dealers for the . To fill the expected continuous demand, they're increasing staff at the Wentzville, Missouri plant again by almost 30%.

"750 new people" is the estimate GM puts their hiring wave at; a big increase to Wentzville Assembly which employs 2,600 people on two shifts right now. This new third shift GM is planning for early next year is in addition to the 1,315 new jobs they already prescribed for Canyon and Colorado production months ago.

I guess we can take that to mean initial orders for the "little" trucks were higher than GM initially anticipated.

The new hires will be putting hands on the and GMC Canyon pickups as well as the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana full-size vans which, apparently, still exist.

We're finally going to be able to buy the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and its slightly-fancier brother…

Between staff and equipment, GM's looking at a 513 million-dollar investment to build these trucks not counting R&D.
