Dealership Donates Minivan To Couple Who Were Scammed On Craigslist
Dealership Donates Minivan To Couple Who Were Scammed On Craigslist-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:42

A Michigan couple on a fixed income saved up to purchase a $2500 minivan from a seller on Craigslist. But when the seller gave them a false title and the minivan turned out to be stolen, they were out a car and their money. Now a local dealer has stepped in to donate a car and make things right.

According to local news affiliate , Mark Rakowski and his wife were scammed by a Craiglsist seller who sold them a stolen car. Mark suffers from health problems that require him to transport his breathing equipment around. He and his wife had to put money aside for awhile to even afford what many would consider a "cheap" used car. They spotted a minivan on Craigslist that had about 100,000 miles and arranged to meet the seller to purchase the car. After paying $2500, they were on their way. However, when it came time to register it, the Michigan Department of Motor Vehicles told them that the car was reported stolen and would have to be seized by police. With no car, and no money, things were not looking good for the Rakowski's.

When Right Way Automotive, a local used car dealership, heard about their story they contacted the Rakowskis's and told them they could have a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country free of charge, complete with complementary oil changes and a six month warranty.

Authorities are still looking for the man who scammed the Rakowski's and warn car buyers that they should use caution when purchasing from private sellers. Buyers should make sure the seller's title is legit and if at all possible have the transaction completed at the local DMV to confirm the paperwork.

Kudos to Right Way Automotive...sometimes the name says it all.

Here Are Ten Cars You Loved As A Kid For Less Than $15,000
Things were much simpler when you were a little younger, a lot more naïve, and you thought the only criteria for buying a car was how cool it looked. That’s why for less than a $15,000 budget on eBay, and my inner child is grinning ear to ear. was the...

Does This Cheap Ferrari Deserve To Be Rescued From Its Tasteless Owner?
Exotic-car ownership, like anything super exclusive, becomes easier to reach by the everyday man over time. While this may put those once-unreachable goals within your comfort zone, it also makes supercars like available to any negligent and tasteless owner with the cash to afford the sizable down payment. So the...

Parking Lot Racing Is Actually Fun To Watch When The Cars Are This Dumb
Motor Trend’s YouTube show “Roadkill” has been a consistently excellent source of automotive idiocy for years. In 49 episodes they’ve lived many our jalopy dreams by putting monster engines in weird cars and using a Sawzall with extreme prejudice. Now we get to see their terrible fleet together in a...

James May Wrenching On A Lawnmower Engine Should Not Be This Entertaining
James May is a weird dude, but he’s also a brilliant entertainer. Just watch this video of him assembling an old lawnmower. He somehow manages to make a boring situation—an old man quietly putting together a mundane gardening tool—entertaining. James May has a new series out called “The Reassembler,” in...

eBay Challenge: Cars You Loved As A Kid For Less Than $15,000
One of the biggest driving forces in the used car market, especially for cars that appreciate in value, is nostalgia. That rose-colored feeling that paints every automotive wonder as an impossibly high standard is what makes gems like the Toyota Supra and Acura NSX valuable today, and therein lies your...
