Ease Into the Weekend With Classic Alfa Restoration and Jazz Guitar
Ease Into the Weekend With Classic Alfa Restoration and Jazz Guitar-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:12:02

It’s Friday. It’s been A WEEK, let me tell you. What I could use, and I’m sure you could too, is a series of videos featuring a soft-spoken British man fixing 105-series Alfa Romeos in a garage in South Africa.

“But Kyle,” you say. “Where will you find such a specific thing on the internet?” And the answer, friends, is, of course, YouTube, and specifically . His uploads aren’t super frequent, but they’re always good and always relaxing to watch. Plus, classic Alfas are amazing. I should know; and drove it daily for years.

In this particular video, Bronner replaces some carburetor chokes and venturis in the Weber carbs on a delightful 1,750-cc twin-cam motor. Like all jobs on Alfas of this era short of swapping spark plugs, it looks deeply unfun, but what is life on the internet if not enjoying a little automotive schadenfreude?

Watch till the end to see Mr. Bronner flog this little Duetto Spider with much gusto. If you’re not already familiar, these driving scenes will show you just how spectacular the Alfa twin-cam four-cylinder engine truly is.

Finally, A Mitsuoka Rock Star For Me And You
Finally, A Mitsuoka Rock Star For Me And You
If someone asked you to describe a Corvette with adjectives, which would you choose? American? Sporty? Left-hand drive? Sure, these days the Corvette is available in right-hand drive configuration, but that’s merely a recent trend that started with the C8. For a boutique manufacturer like Japan’s Mitsuoka looking to...

Blip: Important Fact Reveal About Late Edsels
I had no idea that late Edsel—as in 1960, after they got rid of their oft-mocked ‘horsecollar’ or ‘vulva’-shaped grille—had an optional underdash A/C unit that mimicked the look of the car’s new grille. Clever! ...

Nobody Wants To Sell You Affordable Cars
Nobody Wants To Sell You Affordable Cars
Carmakers last year saw profits swell amidst the global pandemic as they cut production down to only their most expensive, profitable vehicles. Now they’re afraid to go back to the cheap stuff. All that and more in for February 2, 2022. I’m going to single out GM here because...

That Time I Had An Adventure With A Chevy Spark In South America
Recently, we received the news that I say good riddance. While I never drove the current Spark, I did have a stint behind the wheel of a South American rental Spark. I did not enjoy it. In 2008, my fiancé (now wife) got a scholarship to study at a...

Gran Turismo 7 Is Designed To Inspire The Next Generation Of Car Enthusiasts Just As It Inspired You
With exactly 30 days between now and March 4, Gran Turismo 7 is firmly in the home stretch. That’s exciting and pretty unexpected. Save for the initial delay from a vague release sometime in 2021 — which never seemed all that certain anyway — Polyphony Digital announced one release date...

Blip: This Feels Like A Graphic Novel Cover
This brochure is for the ambulance version of the ZIM, also known as the GAZ-12 ZIM, notable as the first GAZ to have their jumping deer hood ornament. The stretchers were loaded through the trunk opening on this ambulance version, something that seems awkward, but doesn’t look too bad:...
