Everyone Should Daily-Drive A Classic Jeepster Commando
Everyone Should Daily-Drive A Classic Jeepster Commando-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:15

If you need automotive inspiration in your life, check out this guy’s 1970 Jeep Jeepster Commando daily-driver. It’s perfect in every way.

When you hear “Jeepster,” you might think of that Willys made from 1948 to 1950. But diehards will tell you that wasn’t a true Jeep, and that the real Jeepster came out as the Jeepster Commando in 1966 with a solid front axle like the Jeep gods intended.

The Jeepster Commando is a weird looking Jeep (but the were downright hideous), with that huge notched rear overhang and the grille that flows over the fenders. Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in the video below, that beholder is Sam Fankuchen. Look at his tastefully modified daily-driver:

I think it looks great. More importantly, though, listen to that Dauntless V6. That 90-degree Buick engine, loosely related to the unstoppable Buick 3800, fires right up as Sam turns the key. I wish would do that.

Sam, you’re a real Jeepin’spiration, even if you did call your rig a “car” a few times (the Jeep bible’s first Commandment is: thou shalt not calleth youreth Jeepeth a careth—or something like that).
