For $2,500, This 1956 Dodge H Flatbed Is Dually Noted
For $2,500, This 1956 Dodge H Flatbed Is Dually Noted-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:10:04

We're going to close out the week with a dually work truck that sports a vast flat bed. You'll need to decide if its price works for you, or if it is flat out too much.

Do you remember the scene in Animal House where Otter says "I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part?" Well that statement could easily apply to the back doors on yesterday's .

Seeing as it rocks a 350 in its nose, today's Nice Price or Crack Pipe Corvair could be…

Now, the second generation Corvair, even in its four-door form, is generally considered to be one of the most beautiful cars ever penned, and that now front-engine'd shorty unnerved many both by its proportions and its price, the result being a 72% Crack Pipe loss.

Okay, enough of that, let's get to work. This is your Friday fix of fabulous. That is, if old trucks with a healthy patina of wear and a new engine are what pluck your hens.

The base here is the Dodge C-series, which was first introduced in 1954. Available in various lengths and carrying capacities, the C built upon Dodge's long history - both in civilian and war time - of dependable work trucks.

This H-series derivative trades its pickup box for a flat bed that is prepped for stakes if your needs lean towards a ride to go on your vampire-dispatching errands. That's not the only thing that's flat here either, as power for the dually back wheels is provided courtesy of Dodge's 230-cid "Powerflow" L-head six. That was factory spec'd at about 110-hp, and this one s said to have benefitted from a recent rebuild. Sweet!

Gearbox duties are handled by a refreshed four-speed manual, which is really a three-speed with a granny gear that likely makes good use of that L-head's ample torque. Other noteworthy new kibbles and bits on this truck are the brakes and lines, and the seller says that the frame has been painted - for what that's worth.

Probably more worth mentioning is that all the glass is said to be good - these have the wrap-around front front and back glass - there's a claim of minimal road rot. Not only that but the ad says that the title is clean, and that the seller exercises the truck on occasion. As a matter of fact, there's very little not to like about this cool old Dodge. Let's see if that includes its price.

The seller is asking $2,500 cash or a trade for a boat. What is it with people and boats this week? I'm short a boat so let's focus on the cash. Do you think this '56 flatty is worth $2,500? Or, is that too dear a price for this Dodge

You decide!

Seattle , or go if the ad disappears.
