Back in 1994, a McLaren F1 cost you about £650,000. That was as much as a mansion. This video took one such Mclaren and one such mansion and compared the two on appreciation. Which one made more money?

Well, it's no surprise it was the McLaren, but the margin of victory even surprised me.

Kidston figured out that while the mansion bumped up to £2.5 million, the McLaren went up to £6.5 mill. Such is the power of the collector market these days.

Of course, I suggest you spend your time with one chasing tarmac not quietly calculating appreciation in a climate controlled-garage. You can make a lot of money off of a McLaren, but I'm not sure that ever equals the joy of driving one.
