The Callaway Corvette Z06 Sucks More Air To Get 757 Horsepower
The Callaway Corvette Z06 Sucks More Air To Get 757 Horsepower-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:40

If the standard Z06’s 1740cc supercharger isn’t big enough for you, Callaway will build you one with a 2300cc unit that rises the horsepower figure to 757 and the torque to 777 lb-ft. Because the just didn’t have enough power stock, right?

Callaway Cars claims their new “757” reaches 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds at 131 mph.

The key to that sort of performance is their now patent pending supercharger system, which is not only 32% larger than stock, but also uses a redesigned manifold for better packaging and consistent charge air temperatures, resulting in over 500 lb-ft available from 2,000 to 6,400 rpm. A 10-rib drive pulley system was also integrated to prevent belt-slippage.

In case you like get geeky, here’s what they’ve done:

Callaway charges $16,995 for the package with a 3 year/36,000 mile limited warranty.

Just to compare, if you ring up John Hennessey he will offer you the Z06 HPE800, which is rated at 800 horsepower and puts down 704 of those to the rear wheels. But this upgrade also costs around $54,000, and you only get a 2 year/ 24,000 mile limited warranty.

In case you don’t have $54,000 to spend on a $79,000 car, Karl Lingenfelter’s 378 CID LT4 is here to save the day with a $3,995 upgrade that brings the power up to 720 hp and 730 ft-lbs. Lingenfelter only gives you a 1 year/ 12,000 mile warranty.

If that’s not enough, you get go twin-turbo for 1,000hp, although that package is based on the Stingray.

Would you tune a Z06, or does that seem completely unnecessary to you as well?
