Ducati became the first motorcycle manufacturer to integrate Dainese's D-Air airbag system into one of its bikes earlier this year, and now we get to see how the system handles crashing into one its corporate siblings.

The bike is the new Ducati Multistrada D-Air, a variant of the 1200 S Touring, equipped with a black box that ties into the bike's myriad of sensors. Those signals are sent to a receiver mounted inside the Dainese D-Air jacket, so when the bike detects a crash it can deploy the jacket's airbags in a scant 45 milliseconds. Even better, the onboard system can connect with two jackets, so people riding two-up can share the protection.

The bike/gear combo went on sale in Europe earlier this year, and last we heard, it was still awaiting approval for the U.S. market.
