Why Buy A Ford Taurus When This Ridiculous V10 Audi S6 Is Way Less?
Why Buy A Ford Taurus When This Ridiculous V10 Audi S6 Is Way Less?-April 2024

The mid-2000s were a fun time for luxury automakers, because they took their most potent, race-bred engines and shoehorned them into their most unassuming sedans. One of the sleepers that so eloquently flew under the radar was with a crazy V10 engine, which can now be yours for less than the price of a boring-ass Ford Taurus. You’re welcome.

doesn’t look as fast as it is, and that’a a very good thing. It’ll blend in with any corporate parking lot on weekdays, and tear up a drag strip or highway on-ramp on the weekend. It houses a mammoth 5.2-liter V10, the same one used in the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Gallardo. It can also be modified to sound like a cavalry charge commissioned by God. This silver example looks to be in pretty good shape, and for an asking price that rivals most new economy cars, it’s one hell of a performance bargain.

The car does have a bit of mileage on it (just shy of 100k), but the drivetrain is stout enough that it would be a reliable runner, even at supercar-destroying odometer readouts. Here’s an excerpt from the description:

This gorgeous Audi S6 features a Quartz Grey Metallic exterior over Black leather interior. All books and two master remote keys. PASSED A 110 POINT MD INSPECTION!! Very clean and well maintained fresh local trade! LOOKS AND RUNS GREAT!!

Used luxury cars are my thing, so it’s a definitely must-drive for me. Yes, this car can be a bit tough on the wallet if there’s any sort of major repair afoot, but luxury car ownership is largely a pay-for-play service, and I’m not sure you can get much more naturally aspirated fun for less money, so it may be worth it to take a gamble and check this car out. .

is the founder of and writes about on the internet. He owns the world’s cheapest , a , and he’s the only Jalopnik author that has never driven a Miata. He also has a real name that he didn’t feel was journalist-y enough so he used a pen name and this was the best he could do.

There's a difference between being cheap and treasuring value per dollar spent. One is knowing…

You can also follow him on and . He won’t mind.

Update: I'm Still Burning Money

I Ordered A Carbon-Fiber Roof For My Porsche 996 Turbo And I Might Throw Up A Little
I bought maybe the cheapest Porsche 996 Turbo—that’s right, —on the market a year ago, and I’ve mostly been happily stacking miles on the odometer since then. I have been working on making the car my own with a period-correct set of wheels, some extra carbon trim, and a...
