The more I write, the more I realize a vocal majority of readers rely on warranties and shops to get even the most rudimentary maintenance done, and the strapping do-it-yourselfers are few and far between. Obviously I understand that not everyone has time for everything. There's only a finite amount of time we have on this planet, and some would prefer to spend time with their loved ones, rather than be underneath an old rusty chassis (I'm not actually sure these people exist), but as car enthusiasts, would it not add to the experience to get down and dirty with the mechanical or cosmetic components of the cars you and I so adore?

I'd love to hear your responses, as I'm genuinely curious to know why more people aren't engaged physically with repairing and modifying their cars themselves.
