It has been announced that the updated 2011 Land RoverFreelander 2 is set to hit dealerships in the United Kingdom at the end of September this year. The 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 comes with a few cosmetic upgrades, tweaks here and there and some improved technology.
The exterior of the new 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 has seen some nice changes and comes with a new front bumper assembly, a new front grille finish, improved headlights and tail lamps, as well as updated alloy wheel styles and an additional three colour choices. The interior hasnt received as much love, with only subtle changes being made to the instrument dials and some options for seats styles. There are of course some options regarding the interior, including Windsor leather upholstery, an electric seat and premium carpet mats, which dont sound all that inspiring.
One of the more surprising aspects of the new 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 comes in the form of a 2WD derivative, which is quite a stretch for Land Rover. The 2WD option will be available in the United Kingdom in January 2011. Land Rover note that the market in Europe for 2WD SUVs comes to around 23% of the segment, and they intend to compete in this specialized segment. The biggest draw of this 2WD is obviously its fuel efficiency, and it comes in at just 47.2mpg combined and CO2 emissions of just 158g/km, making it the most efficient Land Rover ever.
Other options in the new 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2 range include a new 2.2 liter diesel with manual transmission and Start/Stop technology as standard. The power has been increased as well as the fuel efficiency and overall performance compared to the previous Freelander range. With the top of the range 190PS Freelander SD4 completing 0-100km/h in just 8.7 seconds and a top speed of around 190km/h.
