2019 Ford Ranger: Everything We Know About the Packages and Specs So Far
2019 Ford Ranger: Everything We Know About the Packages and Specs So Far-April 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:13:10

We got when a configurator site mistakenly went live, but were disappointed to learn that it was not accurate. Fortunately, the order guide for the 2019 Ranger went out to dealers today, and we were able to to get all the details and specs that are currently available.

The Ranger will be offered with the sole powertrain combination of a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission and will be offered in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. No V6, no manual for the U.S. Ranger. Sorry if you wanted that stuff.

As confirmed by Ford last week, there will be no regular cab option. Instead, the Ranger will only be available in SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations. All versions will ride on a 126.8 inch wheelbase and the SuperCab will be offered with either six-foot bed (or no bed at all.) The SuperCrew will come with a five-foot bed. Rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive will be available on all variants except for the SuperCab with bed delete which is RWD-only.

The 4x4 system is listed as being “Electronic-Shift-On-the-Fly” which means that the modes will be controlled via an electronic knob and if it is similar to how that system is implemented on other Ford vehicles then it will allow switch from 2WD to 4WD HIGH at speeds up to 55 mph and switching to 4WD LOW at lower speeds.

Like most modern vehicles with advanced safety systems, the Ranger will be equipped with electronic power-assisted steering. It will have an independent front suspension with coil springs with a straight axle in the back that sits on two-stage leaf springs.

The XL trim comes with a black grille and black body trim along with 16-inch steel wheels that are wrapped in 255/70R16 tires. Inside, the instrument cluster gets a 2.3-inch info screen while the center stack gets a 3.5-inch display for the infotainment that is connected to 4 speakers. The seats and HVAC are manually operated but it does get power windows. On the safety side, it gets pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. The base XL does not include cruise control.

Upgrading to the 101A package on the XL bumps you to a bigger screen in the center stack along with 2 more speakers, cruise control, and a remote key fob with tailgate lock. The SYNC upgrade also include things like 4G Wi-Fi and remote vehicle monitoring. The other standalone options for the XL include a Trailer Tow package, electronic rear diff, and some exterior and interior appearance option. The Ford Co-Pilot360 safety package, FX4 Off-Road package, and STX pacakages are available on the XL but must be purchased with the 101A package above.

The XLT gets a lot more standard features including an exterior upgrade which adds body-colored bumpers and molding along with 17-inch wheels and tires. Most of the optional XL features like SYNC and the 4.2-inch display are standard on the XLT as is the Co-Pilot360 safety package and the forward and reverse sensing systems.

The XLT has two optional levels available which are the Mid (301A) and the Luxury (302A). Adding either one bumps you up to SYNC3 with the huge 8-inch center display along with dual-zone climate control. The options that are exclusive to 302A include 8-way power and heated seats, a sliding rear window, remote start, and a sport appearance package.

All variants of the XLT can select the Bed Utility, FX4, and Trailer Tow packages. The Technology, Sport, and Chrome packages are only selectable with 301A and 302A. 18-inch wheels are also only selectable with with 302A.

The Lariat gets many of the optional XLT features, like SYNC3 as standard. It starts out with 18-inch aluminum wheels that are wrapped in 265/60R18 tires and gets body-color handles and trim along with a Lariat-only fender vent.

Dual-zone climate is standard as are a dual 4.2-inch displays in the instrument cluster. Power, leather, heated seats are also standard, as is push-button start. The Lariat offer a 501A level above the standard 500A which includes a Bang & Olufsen sound system with seven speakers and a subwoofer along with the Technology package, rain-sensing wipers, remote start, and a wiper de-icer.

All of the usual packages like FX4 and Trailer Tow are available for both variants of the Lariat. A different 18-inch wheel is available as an option, as is the electronic-locking rear differential.

Most of the colors that we saw on that Build and Price tool last week are going to be available with a few exclusive colors such as Saber and White Platinum only being available as you step up to a higher trim.

Power, fuel economy, and payload figures are currently listed as TBD, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to get those exact specs. The full order guide is embedded below.

An earlier version of this post incorrectly said the SuperCrew has a six-foot bed; it actually has a five-foot bed.
