BMW‘s powerhouse sports sedan, the M5, has officially ended production. The E60 model version of the M5 has stopped production but not before churning out some impressive sales figures.
With the first BMW M5 being introduced in 1984, the car has a long and impressive history. The current BMW M5 model however was released in 2005 and since that date has sold more than 20 500 units. These figures include sales of the BMW M5 Saloon and the BMW M5 Touring which was released a little later in 2007.
What makes these figures so impressive is that BMW sold more of the current M5 model than it’s predecessor, even though the predecessor was in production for a full year more.
The wait now is to see what BMW have to offer for the next generation M5, with rumours and spy shots popping up around the internet. We will however have to wait until 2011 to see the new BMW M5 but I have a feeling it will be well worth it.
