We were all pretty shocked about the Renault Espace minivan hauling a tractor across Spain at 120 MPH. I'm disappointed to say that report was half false, police clarified that a different vehicle was clocked at that speed earlier. But the van was indeed carrying a tractor.
On March 10th, Catalan police stopped two people blasting through the municipality of Aiguaviva, in the northeast corner of Spain at 204 KPH. As the road they were traveling on, the AP-7, has a speed limit of 120 KPH, the local policía saw fit to stop them.
Later, on the same road, they spotted the Renault Espace with some suspicious sag. When the van was pulled over, the tractor was discovered and hilarity ensued as confirmed by .
Apparently the driver was hauling the tractor somewhere to demolish it for scrap. Once the cops figured out the tractor wasn't stolen they let him go as long as he dumped it and paid a fine for "portar un excés de pes i una mala estibació de la càrrega" or carrying too much crap.
It's a bit of a bummer that the Espace wasn't as spectacularly quick as I'd originally thought, but the truth must be known!
