in the U.S. is continuing its as production around the world recovers. According to , that trend was no different in June, and .

Data from Cox Automotive, reported by Auto News, says that there are an estimated 1,953,512 vehicles sitting unsold on right now. That works out to a 53-day supply – which is up 75 percent from the same time just one year ago. It’s also up very slightly from a month earlier when supply stood at 1,928,619 vehicles. Cox reportedly generates this data by looking at the sales rate from the previous 30-day period.

The big reason for this 53-day average supply comes down to one thing: EVs. According to the outlet, those vehicles have a 103-day supply. That makes it the only segment other than to have supplies on the other side of 100 days. However, Cox does point out that were close at 99 days, but that’s not really that surprising.

On the flip side of the coin are c. They reportedly have the s.

From Auto News’ reporting, it can be asserted that inventory levels were the lowest among lower-priced vehicles, and stock seems to grow in proportion with price. That’s not too much of a surprise. I mean, who really has the money to buy an expensive car right now? Exactly. No one does. Another interesting little factoid is that and have nine of the top 10 nameplates with the smallest supply.

Auto News reports that among the seven automakers who still report monthly sales and inventory figures, six saw their days’ supply level increase last month between one and four days. Only stayed level.

So, if you want a deal on the car, we may not be where we were a few years ago, but things are starting to get back to normal-ish.

What would Donald D. Winnicott drive? Although the English psychoanalyst shuffled off this mortal coil in 1971 — a year when gas-guzzling dinosaurs roamed the earth and the Bandit had yet to be smokied — one wonders if the originator of the "good enough mother" would have opted for a...

The FJ is an extremely capable off-roader. It's an urban style statement. It's an extremely capable off-roader that's an urban style statement. And it's cheap. If you don't go off-road, you might as well have "fashion victim" tattooed on your forearm as cruise in a Cruiser. The FJ ain't nothin'...

Jalopnik Reviews: 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, Part 2
It's so ugly it's beautiful. It's so beautiful— no wait. Although the FJ's front end has a wonderfully butch (if kinkily Playskool) H2-meets-old-FJ-on-the-dark-side-of-town look to it, the Toy's side profile is the strangest combination of angles, textures, shapes, proportions and lines I've seen since I dropped mescaline in the produce...

Jalopnik Reviews: 2006 Toyota Yaris, Part 1
Egghead that I am, I've always had a bit of a problem analyzing mainstream Toyotas. The damn things are so stunningly unobjectionable that criticizing them is the reverse equivalent of complaining that Beethoven's Ninth is too loud. Just like the Corolla or, um, what is it? Best-seller... Oh what a...

Jalopnik Reviews: 2006 Toyota Yaris, Part 2
The Yaris Liftback's design represents a conflict between "small is beautiful" and "man is that ugly." If the detailing was halfway cool, I'd cast my lot with the willing-to-be-crushed-like-a-bug-for-my-art camp. But it isn't. The slight creases flanking the Yaris' front logo are all kinds of ludicrous, and someone missed the...
