Extreme Speed Motorsports’ Ed Brown lost the brakes in their #31 LMP2-class World Endurance Championship car at today’s 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas and temporarily became an aircraft pilot.
Fortunately, the barriers at the end of Turn 20 did their job and Brown is just fine, although his last name may not be the only thing that’s Brown after that shunt.
The crash brought about a full course yellow as the barrier had to be repaired, but fortunately, the repairs didn’t take long and the race is already back under green flag conditions.
According to a status update from on Twitter, Brown has been released from the medical center without any injuries.
Brown moonlights as the CEO of Tequila Patrón when he’s not driving race cars, hence the car’s colorful, boozy livery for everywhere except Le Mans. For better or for worse, he can now sit down and enjoy his own product for the rest of the race.
