There’s nothing like the sense of speed you get from a roof-mounted camera. Because it’s dumb and bad to try on a race car, we’ve got video from on top of an Audi R8 LMS flying down Road America that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home. Turn up the volume, and let’s enjoy a good V10 howl.

This footage comes via Kyle Marcelli in the No. 2 CRP Motorsports / Devilbiss Audi R8 LMS during Friday practice before last weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge races. If you’ve ever wanted to sit down and watch some good, fairly open laps of Road America, this is how it’s done.
Road America is not short, at 4.048 miles in length, yet this car just eats up those four miles like it’s nothing. Watching this Audi bounce off the curbs like a vehicular ping-pong ball is oddly mesmerizing. I think it’s all the engine noise.
