Hotter Audi TTS for SA
Hotter Audi TTS for SA-November 2024
2023-12-14 EST 02:30:38

While you can expect to see the facelifted Audi TT in South Africa in the third quarter of 2019, we are also looking forward to seeing the hotter version of the TTS Coupe.

Slotting in below the range-topping TT RS in the TT lineup is the TTS and while it’s not as hardcore, it still packs a mighty punch from its turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine.

The latest iteration features revised exterior styling but more importantly, the TTS now has 20 Nm more than before, bringing the maximum torque figure to 400 Nm. Power output has, however, been reduced by 3 kW to 225 kW.

Nonetheless, performance is still impressive with the TTS Coupe sprinting from zero to 100 kph in 4.5 secondswhile its Roadster sibling is slightly slower at 4.8 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 kph and both the TTS Coupe and Roadster are equipped with an enhanced 7-speed dual clutch transmission as well as quattro all-wheel drive and Audi’s magnetic ride controlled shock absorber system. All TT's are fitted with a particulate filter to reduce emissions.

The TTS's cockpit is driver-focused and is arguably one of the most aestheticallypleasing interiors on the market.

In terms of styling, 18-inch wheels are standard while 19- and 20-inch wheels will be available as an option. Two new exterior colours will also be offered including Pulse Orange and Turbo Blue. Other nice details include S sport seats with contrasting stitching and an additional sport screen in the Audi Virtual Cockpit.

A TTS Competition special edition model is also expected to be offered in limited numbers. It will featurebespoke styling details such as LED headlights, laminated Audi rings on the side sills, privacy glazing for the TTS Coupe, a fixed rear wing, red brake callipers and 20-inch wheels in high-gloss black. The TTS Competition special edition is offered in either Tango Red, Mythos Black or Glacier White exterior body colours. Two choices of leather upholstery and trim will also be available.

The facelifted Audi TT range can be expected in South Africa in Q3 of 2019 but the TTS Roadster will sadly not be offered locally.
