Over the past few years, online shopping and delivery services have grown exponentially. With local shopping apps like Takealot and soon-to-be-launched Amazon, the market is going to require more and more vehicles to get goods to your destination. Scooters just aren’t going to be adequate.
Enter the Hyundai Venue Cargo, Hyundai SA’s entry into the last-mile delivery ecosystem. Essentially, Hyundai takes a standard base-spec Venue, removes the rear seating bench and installs a partition and voila, you now have a commercial cargo crossover! This division will help secure packages and stop cargo from moving about in the event of sudden braking.
Hyundai SA claims the Venue Cargo has a licensing mass of just 990 kg and a payload of 500 kg, which we think is impressive. As far as rivals are concerned, Hyundai is benchmarking the Volkswagen Caddy and while the latter is priced quite a bit higher, it does come with a stronger engine and more space.
Hyundai will be classifying this vehicle as a light commercial, and it will be sold alongside the Korean brand’s Atos and Grand i10 Cargo offerings.
