I’m sure some people reading this are old enough to remember when window louvers were prime automotive fashion accessories. The somewhat ominous-looking sun-deflecting slats were all the rage on sports cars with long raked rear windows in the 1970s and 80s. But uh, I’ve never seen them gathered as densely as they are on this old .

I’m crazy for Scouts and most of my friends know this, so I tend to get a lot of Scout sightings and Scout listing in my inbox on any given day. You know who you are, Scout picture sender. Don’t stop, by the way. I need all the thirteen-letter spreader joy in my life that I can get.

Anyway, all this to say I was particularly surprised when I saw with an accessory I’d never seen before: comically long and flat louvers for the rear side windows.

The more I thought about it, I realized I don’t think I’ve ever seen louvers like this on any SUV or truck at all. Which officially rendered it interesting enough to share with the rest of you, so here we are.

The BaT post just describes them as “SSII window louvers,” implying that the accessories were part of the Super Scout II package which included the grille and tailgate farkle this truck also has. But the only Super Scouts I’ve seen have been roofless, with fiberglass portals in place of the doors, so if these louvers were part of the deal it’s news to me.

The rest of the truck looks pretty tidy but the window treatment is comically ridiculous. I don’t really have anything else to add beyond “hey look” but I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. And oh yeah, if you buy this thing, you better keep those!
