Join Us Live As We Wander The Pit Lane During An IndyCar Rain Delay-March 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:32

If you were waiting for tonight’s IndyCar race to start at Texas Motor Speedway, neat! Us too! The race is expected to start after 10:00 p.m. Eastern now, as they’re drying the track from an earlier storm. I’m here at the Firestone 600, and I’m going to wander around a bit in the pits until the race starts.

Tonight’s race has 22 cars on the 1.455-mile oval at Texas Motor Speedway, hence the rain delay. IndyCar doesn’t have rain tires for its oval races. After it gets started, 248 laps will take the cars 360.84 miles through to the end.

It has to get started first, though. We’ve been through and the driver introductions. Now we wait. Humidity is an issue today, as the water just doesn’t go anywhere despite being blown on by jet dryers. Join us as Hooniverse’s Patrick Hoffstetter and I poke through some of the more interesting things we can find behind the scenes.

Anything in particular you’d like us to find at the track? Hit us up on the .

The 21 year old Ferrari driving Charles Leclerc ran about as perfect a race as one can expect. Aside from a poor start that saw him swallowed up by teammate Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, Chuck put in a top notch race to not only re-pass Hamilton, but also...

Here's Why We Still Need DRS in Formula One
Here's Why We Still Need DRS in Formula One
Fans of have been complaining about the sport’s lack of overtaking for years. Real racing—exciting racing—is the result of tons of passing and constant battles for the lead. But that passing, crucially, should be done naturally, as the result of each car’s aerodynamic prowess and not any fancy-schmancy technology....

You Are Looking at the First Aston Martin to Race in Lemons
I remember when the Aston Martin DB7 was the fresh hot shit, and now they’ve depreciated so much that one team of enterprising Aston owners have resorted to racing their once prized Jag-based supercar in the 24 Hours of Lemons event at NOLA Motorsports Park this weekend. Well, that’s not...

Here's How to See a Race When You're as Poor as You Are
Have you ever seen those people on social media who somehow manage to go to an obscene amount of races each year? They’re not influencers or sponsors—they’re just regular race fans who somehow have managed to conquer all of the financial setbacks that have made sure you’ve only ever...

Nothing Will Ever Be As Good As This Dolly Parton NASCAR Camaro
has some of the most iconic liveries in all of motorsport: There’s Jeff Gordon and the DuPont rainbow, Richard Petty with STP’s red and blue, Dale Earnhardt and GM Goodwrench’s black, red, and silver. But they can all step aside, because we have a new champion in town. Tyler...
